Gastritis is the general name for a group of conditions characterized by inflammation, irritation or erosion of the lining of the stomach. The cause of gastritis can be bacterial or viral infection, stress, certain medications, excessive alcohol consumption, bile reflux... With such a list of prerequisites, it is not surprising that every second person on the planet suffers from gastritis. Some have no symptoms, others appear suddenly (acute gastritis), others are prevented from lasting life (chronic gastritis). The symptoms of gastritis are as follows:
- indigestion;
- Loss of appetite.
- Hiccups.
- Bloating.
- Nausea.
- Vomit.
- Abdominal pain.
- The stool is dark in color and has a tarry texture.
All this is very unpleasant, and even more unpleasant are the probable consequences of gastritis - for example, ulcers or stomach cancer. But wait for the panic! The disease is not so terrible if you follow the gastritis diet.
Who needs a diet for gastritis? To everyone whose life it poisons in one way or another.Since gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach, it is extremely important to control what goes into the stomach. Some foods contribute to the development and strengthening of inflammation, while others, on the contrary, "relieve" it.Even if you have no symptoms of gastritis, you should still follow your diet, at least in general, to prevent the disease from getting worse.
What not to eat if you have gastritis
A key aspect of gastritis nutrition is not to irritate an already irritated stomach, that is, to eat the most neutral foods possible.Of course, this does not mean that you can only eat chicken and steamed vegetables without salt until the end of time, but you must give up all kinds of spicy, salty, dried and smoked foods, especially if the doctor ordered a diet for gastritis with high acidity. So, what not to eat?

- Spicy food. This includes many national dishes: Korean kimchi, Thai tom yum, Mexican tacos.
- Fatty foods. This includes fast food - the amount of fat in it is much higher than usual.Studies have repeatedly shown that eating too much fat makes gastritis worse, and you definitely don't want that.
- Alcohol.Any alcohol is a risk factor that triggers gastritis attacks, so it is better to give it up completely.Even a small dose can be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
- Strongly acidic foods. These include, for example, citrus fruits.
- Sweetness and sourness.Unfortunately, both irritate the stomach wall, so you should salt and sweeten food in moderation. This also includes industrially produced fruit juices and soda - they are by no means on the list of things you can eat when you have gastritis.
- Bakery. It is better to buy or bake whole grain bread.
- Pooch.Definitely not.
- Fermented dairy products. The stomach lining is not friendly to them either. This includes whole milk. You can use sour cream, but not much.
- Condiments and sauces.Be careful with them: even ketchup can trigger an attack, not to mention adjika. The pepper mill should be removed from the table, and the mustard is also unnecessary.
Sometimes inflammation can be caused by an allergy to something, but these are quite rare cases.
To make it easier to navigate, here are examples of foods that should be excluded from the diet in case of gastritis.
You cannot eat:sausage, fresh bread, baked goods, fatty cheeses, candies and pastries, pickles, cakes, scrambled eggs, fried sandwiches, hodgepodge, kharcho, dried meat, cherries, currants, cranberries, fried potatoes, prepared foods, fatty meats, onions, corn, chocolate, nuts, garlic eggs (salmon, tuna), canned foods, legumes, mushrooms, unripe fruits.
You cannot drink:cocoa, strong tea, fruit juices, any alcohol, carbonated sweet drinks, energy drinks.
In general, gastritis nutrition depends on the acidity of the stomach and, accordingly, whether it should be increased, decreased or "left alone".
If the acidity is high, remove additional coffee, rye bread, citrus fruits, tomatoes, meat and fish soups, turnips, white cabbage, pearl barley, barley and millet. However, even with low acidity, these products should not be overdone.Anyway, if the temperature is high, you can make milk soups, but not if it is low.
In addition, food sensitivities can vary from person to person, so you can try, for example, cabbage, nuts or dairy products for treating gastritis (strictly outside of exacerbations and in small doses). If everything is in order, small portions of these products can be left in the diet. However, the "let's try" method categorically does not apply to fatty, spicy or salty foods, and absolutely not to alcohol. The stomach will certainly not thank you here, and not because it cannot speak.
Diet for gastritis: what to eat

Now let's talk about what to eat for gastritis. It may seem that we have already named everything in the previous paragraph, but fortunately this is not the case. But before we get to the list of approved products, we give general recommendations from doctors. So:
- Eat fractionally - that is, often and in small portions, so as not to overload your stomach.5-6 times a day - and the inflammation starts to subside.
- The food must be warm.Food that is too cold or too hot irritates the stomach lining and inflammation increases.
- The more thoroughly you chew, the better.Regardless of whether you have high or low acidity gastritis, the gastritis diet is primarily about eliminating foods that can mechanically irritate the stomach. That is why it is recommended to eat pureed and pureed foods during exacerbations.
- Everything must be steamed, boiled or steamed.Do not eat fried food.
Let's move on to the main point: what can you eat in case of gastritis? The list will be quite impressive. There will be no particular problem if you eat:
- Lean meat: chicken, turkey, ideally rabbit.Steamed steak, roast meat, tongue.
- Low-fat fish: pollock or hake.
- Dried white bread, maybe yesterday's bread.
- Dairy products are low in fat and sugar and good for probiotics.
- Pasta (small, whole wheat is better, but regular pasta such as "spider web" will do).
- Vegetables: broccoli, pumpkin, carrot, cauliflower, potato, zucchini. You can eat greens - dill, parsley, just cut them into smaller pieces.
- Fruit: Baked apples are the first. If the acidity is low, you can use citrus fruits. All fruit must be ripe.
- Sweets: marshmallows, marshmallows, honey, sour jam or a small amount of jam.
- Dairy products: cottage cheese and cottage cheese dishes, low-fat milk, kefir, yogurt.
- Oil: butter or refined vegetable oil.
- Broths: vegetable, low acidity, meat and fish, in all cases - weak.
- Cereals: buckwheat, rice, oatmeal, semolina, you can cook porridge, make pudding or casserole.
- Egg: soft-boiled, in the form of a steam omelette (it works well in the microwave anyway).
As you can see, the disease allows for a varied and balanced diet.If a child has been diagnosed with gastritis, then the question of what to eat with gastritis is also not worth it, just follow the list above. Now about the drinking:
- Compote from dried fruits and other things - we remember kindergarten.By the way, it is very tasty and healthy.
- With a kiss.
- Weak tea.
- For low acidity - coffee.
- Rosehip decoction.
Let's repeat it again - it is especially important to follow the diet during exacerbations and for two weeks afterwards.Other times you can indulge yourself, but it's better not to get carried away, otherwise you will have to sit on porridge and pureed soups for half a month - not a good prospect.

Vegetable puree soup
Ingredients: any vegetables that won't hurt your stomach, such as zucchini, a handful of broccoli, a couple of potatoes and a couple of carrots, water, a third of a cup of cream (again, if you don't have a stomach ache, you can substitute the butter), herbs, salt to taste.

Preparation: Cook the vegetables in a saucepan until almost soft.Salt the water, add the cream and cook, stirring, until the vegetables are completely soft.Use a potato masher or blender to puree the soup. That's it!Cut the greens into small pieces and sprinkle them over the soup already in the bowl.
Rice porridge with vegetables and meat
Ingredients: rice, chicken fillet, a handful of broccoli florets, a large carrot.
Preparation: half cook the rice and chicken breast (can also be prepared in a pan).Broccoli and grated carrots are sautéed in olive oil, you can also add a little chopped sweet pepper.Slice the chicken, mix all the ingredients in a pan (don't forget to add salt), pour over the chicken broth to cover the rice, and put it all in the oven until cooked. It will be not only delicious, but also beautiful.
